In 2018 Aquinas Catholic College is undertaking a new student information system called Compass. It is a cloud-based program that will be implemented in all Sydney Catholic Schools, over the next 3 years. At the beginning of this year we will be opening the Student and Parent Portals and you will have access to parts of Compass. Throughout 2018 you will be sent instructional guides and information about Compass via the College newsletter.
The Compass Parent Portal is an integrated, online portal that allows you to access up-to-date and meaningful information about our school and your child's progress. Compass includes many different features, including the ability to:
Monitor your child's attendance, and enter an explanation for absence or lateness
Communicate with your child's teachers
Update your family contact information
View your child's timetable and the school calendar
Monitor your child's homework and assessment tasks
Download and view your child's Semester Reports and Progress Reports

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines - science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Rather than teach the four disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications.
Students are naturally curious and excited about experimentation, so drones offer a chance to learn by solving concrete problems and experimenting with hands-on activities. Drones make STEM learning relevant and fun by allowing students to become creators of technology and by allowing them to collaborate, build off each others’ creative ideas, and share enthusiasm.
The following images were taken by Matthew Ross (Year 12) and our IT Department on Aquinas Day (8th June)/swimming carnival 2018. Our new College drone, the Phantom 4 Pro 4 not only takes beautiful still photos but also amazing digital video footage. Photography and video footage from our College drone can be seen on the Aquinas Catholic College website and on the display panels in the Administration foyer and MLC.
Every student should be using the full capabilities of their devices using:
The College has provided all students with a student login and password for the above mentioned websites. Any student who has challenges with their device must see the ICT support staff in the library as soon as possible (recess and lunchtime so no classtime is missed).
Students are asked to consult with the ICT staff before a new version of software is installed so all necessary security certificates match our network.
The College has implemented a Bring Your Own Designated Device Program
