Uniform Policy

 

Aquinas Catholic College focuses on the development of the whole person  -  the individual within, the individual as a member of the College community and the individual who interacts in the wider community.  The College sees the maintenance of high uniform standards as crucial to developing a sense of belonging and a sense of both personal and collegial pride within each student. 

Summer Dress

GIRLS:

  • College Dress.  To be worn to the knee (not above).
  • White socks to be folded so that the fold is above the top of the shoe.  Anklets of any sort are NOT part of the uniform.
  • Optional – blazer and navy College cardigan.

BOYS:

  • Short sleeve shirt (correct size), Shirts must be tucked in at all times.  Shirts are to be worn in the traditional business style.
  • Aquinas ties are worn in summer for Years 9&10.
  • Yr 7&8 - Tailored shorts to be worn with a plain black belt with pin buckle around the waist, no brand names are acceptable.
  • Yr 7&8 College socks to be worn.
  • Yr 9&10 - Tailored grey trousers to be worn with a plain black belt with pin buckle around the waist, no brand names are acceptable.
  • Yr 9&10 Grey or black socks to be worn.
  • Optional – blazer or navy V-Neck College Jumper.

T-shirts are not to be worn underneath shirts so that the collar of the T-shirt is above the collar of the school shirt.  The only permissible T-shirt colour is white without any logos or advertising of any nature.

College cap is the only form of headwear.

WINTER DRESS

GIRLS:

  • Navy tunic to be worn to the knee (not above).
  • Long sleeve blue blouse with Peter Pan collar and navy tie.
  • Navy stockings. (70 denier).
  • College Blazer. (Compulsory with winter uniform.  Must be worn to and from school).
  • Navy College Cardigan. (Cardigans are not to be worn to and from school unless under the blazer).

BOYS:

  • College shirt (of the correct size), which must be tucked in at all times.  Shirts are to be worn in the traditional business style.
  • College tie.
  • Tailored grey trousers to be worn with a plain black belt with pin buckle around the waist, no brand names are acceptable
  • Yr 7-10 Grey or black short socks.
  • College Blazer (Compulsory with winter uniform.  Must be worn to and from school).
  • Navy V-neck jumper – Optional (Jumpers are not to be worn to and from school unless under the blazer).
  • Must be cleanly shaven.

SUMMER AND WINTER

  • Black leather (traditional style shoe, no straps or buckles), low heeled, lace up shoes that can be polished.  Heel not to exceed 3cm in height as they do not comply with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
  • Girls only may wear one pair of sleepers or studs in the lower ear lobes.
  • Girls and Boys may wear a watch.
  • No other jewellery is to be worn.
  • No nail polish, false finger nails or make-up is to be worn.
  • No spray tans/tanning products

HAIR – BOYS & GIRLS

  • Must be off the face so as not to impede vision.
  • Fashion hairstyles such as rats tails, mullets, prominent lines, tightly braided, beaded, gelled or spiked are not considered appropriate with the uniform and are not permitted.
  • Hair that is dyed, tinted or highlighted is unacceptable.  Hair is to remain the natural colour of the student.
  • Girls hair must be tied back with navy/sky/white ribbons, scrunchies or headbands.
  • Boys must wear their hair above the collar, of uniform length and in harmony with the standards and expectations of the College.
  • There are to be no steps whatsoever and no lower than a number “3” may be used for shaved hairstyles.

Students who make the decision to ignore these conditions will be dealt with at the discretion of the Assistant principal or Pastoral Coordinator.  This may include the student being sent home until the matter can be resolved.

SPORTS UNIFORM – BOYS & GIRLS

  • College tracksuit, shirt, shorts and cap to be worn by boys and girls.
  • Low cut lace up supportive athletic shoes suitable for athletic activity with Aquinas sports socks.  Flat soled walking/skating and canvas shoes must NOT be worn.
  • College cap.  Students who do not wear a cap will not be able to attend sport.

SCHOOL BAGS

  • College back packs are to be used.

STUDENTS MUST CONFORM TO EXPECTATIONS ON SCHOOL UNIFORM.  THE COLLEGE HAS THE FINAL SAY ON WHAT IS, OR IS NOT, ACCEPTABLE AND THE UNIFORM MUST COMPLY WITH OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY STANDARDS.

 

SENIOR UNIFORM POLICY

GIRLS

  • WhiteCollege pin-tucked blouse.  No garment is to be worn underneath the blouse so that it is visible.
  • College skirt, which is to be worn just to the knee.
  • Black leather (traditional style shoe, no straps or buckles), low heeled, lace up shoes that can be polished.  Heel not to exceed 3cm in height as they do not comply with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
  • Ankle white socks (in summer). White socks to be folded so that the fold is above the top of the shoe.
  • College coloured stockings 70 denier opaque navy blue tights (in winter).
  • NavyCollege jumper (optional, but must not be worn to and from school unless under the blazer).
  • College blazer (Optional Terms 1 & 4, Compulsory Terms 2 & 3 and must be worn to and from school).
  • No make-up is to be worn.
  • No nail polish or false fingernails.
  • College cap.
  • Sunglasses may be worn outdoors only
  • No spray tans/tanning products

JEWELLERY

  • One pair of sleepers or studs in the lower ear lobes.
  • Clear/plastic spacers are not permitted
  • One unobtrusive signet type ring may be worn.
  • Watch.
  • No other jewellery.

BOYS

  • White short sleeve shirt for summer and white long sleeve shirt for winter.  Shirts must be tucked in at all times.  No garment is to be worn underneath the shirt so that it is visible.
  • Grey tailored trousers, of the correct fit to be worn with a plain black belt with a pin buckle around the waist, no brand names are acceptable.
  • The SeniorCollege tie must be worn.
  • College blazer (Optional Terms 1 & 4, Compulsory Terms 2 & 3 and must be worn to and from school).
  • Navy College jumper (optional but must not be worn to and from school unless under the blazer).
  • Grey or black socks.
  • Black leather (traditional style shoe, no straps or buckles), lace up shoes, which can be polished.
  • College cap.
  • Must be cleanly shaven.
  • Sunglassess may be worn outdoors only.
  • No spray tans/tanning products.

JEWELLERY

  • Watch.
  • One unobtrusive simple dress ring.
  • No other jewellery.
  • Clear/plastic spacers are not permitted

  • Seniors may wear full school uniform on Friday if they prefer.

2018 New Student Information System - COMPASS

In 2018 Aquinas Catholic College is undertaking a new student information system called Compass.  It is a cloud-based program that will be implemented in all Sydney Catholic Schools, over the next 3 years.  At the beginning of this year we will be opening the Student and Parent Portals and you will have access to parts of Compass. Throughout 2018 you will be sent instructional guides and information about Compass via the College newsletter.  

 

The Compass Parent Portal is an integrated, online portal that allows you to access up-to-date and meaningful information about our school and your child's progress. Compass includes many different features, including the ability to:

  • ​Monitor your child's attendance, and enter an explanation for absence or lateness

  • Communicate with your child's teachers

  • Update your family contact information

  • View your child's timetable and the school calendar

  • Monitor your child's homework and assessment tasks

  • Download and view your child's Semester Reports and Progress Reports

  • Book Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences
